Methodology
How we measure AI visibility
The Swiss AEO Index measures which Swiss businesses, brands and destinations get cited by AI when a customer asks a real question. Here is exactly how the numbers are produced.
Data refreshed every month. Last check: 23 June 2026.
Which AIs we query
Three AI engines are queried: ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI. We do not control the model versions behind these engines: we measure what a user actually gets at the time of measurement.
How the questions are asked
Every month, we ask the 3 AIs the questions real customers ask, for example "what is the best health insurance in Geneva?". Each sector is covered by dozens of questions tracked over time.
Queries are run from Switzerland, the way a real customer would. They are asked in French today, German is planned.
How the score is calculated
For each question, we check whether the brand, domain or name appears in the answer of each of the 3 AIs. The visibility score of a question is the share of the 3 AIs that cite the business: cited by 2 out of 3 AIs, the score is 67%.
The displayed score reflects the latest measurement, not a cumulative total. If an engine returns no usable answer during a measurement, it is excluded from that measurement instead of being counted as an absence.
A business's score is the average across its tracked questions. The displayed trend compares with the previous measurement.
Current coverage
The limits of the measurement
- ·Only three engines. Other AIs exist and are not measured yet.
- ·AI answers vary. Two people asking the same question can get different answers: our numbers are a snapshot, not a guarantee.
- ·Measurement is monthly. A change happening between two measurements only shows up in the next one.
- ·Four sectors covered today. Businesses outside these sectors are not in the index yet.
Correcting information
Factual data (name, website, description) can be corrected on request.
Scores, however, are not negotiable: they are measured automatically from AI answers. Company identity data (name, seat, legal form, purpose) comes from the Zefix registry of the Swiss Federal Commercial Registry Office and is refreshed daily.
Being listed in the index is free and cannot be bought.
